Photo Description:
View of three Adélie penguins climbing up a steep iceberg, with a fourth (gentoo) penguin following, speed-launching out of the water. Adélie penguins can be identified by the distinctive white ring around their eyes. Gentoo penguins can be identified by their bright red-orange bills and white eye patches. The photo was taken in the Yalour Islands, part of the Wilhelm Archipelago located off the Antarctic Peninsula of Antarctica.

There are three things which are majestic in pace,
Yes, four which are stately in walk:
A lion, which is mighty among beasts
And does not turn away from any;

Photo Description:
A greyhound running full-speed, with all four legs outstretched above a grassy meadow. The photo was taken in the Donaueschingen area of Germany. Greyhounds are one of the most ancient of dog breeds, and despite their name they have a wide variety of recognized color forms, including fawn, black, red, blue, gray, white, and various shades of brindle (a striped pattern that gives them the look of having just streaked across the African savanna). With their long legs, muscular build, and large hearts, Greyhounds are the fastest of the dog breeds. They have been clocked at over 40 miles per hour. Yet their restful, loving temperament has earned them the nickname “40-mph couch potato.” (dogtime.com)

“There are three things that are stately in their stride,
four that move with stately bearing:
a lion, mighty among beasts,
who retreats before nothing;
a strutting rooster, a he-goat,
and a king secure against revolt.
PROVERBS 30:29-31 NIV
Note: The meaning of the Hebrew word “mothen” in Proverbs 30:31 is somewhat unclear to scholars. The New King James Version translated the word as “greyhound” (yesterday’s photo). The New International Version translated the word as “rooster” (today’s photo).

Nighttime view of the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Kingdom of Sweden. The Royal Palace is the official residence of His Majesty the King of Sweden and contains 600 rooms, five museums, the Hall of State, and the Royal Armory (with historic coronation carriages and magnificent coaches). The Royal Palace (1760) was built on the location where the Tre Kronor (Three Crowns) castle (mid 1200s) previously stood before it was destroyed by fire. In the foreground is a gilded crown on Skeppsholm Bridge (the first forged iron bridge to be constructed in Sweden) and the waters of the Baltic Sea/Lake Mälaren. Note the cross on top of the crown. In the distance is the cross-topped Church of St. Nicholas, the oldest church in Gamla stan (the old town area of central Stockholm). (visitstockholm.com and thevintagenews.com)
