Rising 205 feet above the surrounding gardens, it is built of pink and gray Georgia marble accented with Florida coquina stone, and mirrored in a long reflecting pond bordered by lush subtropical plantings, palms, and Spanish moss. Completed in 1929 as a gift to the American people, the Tower houses a sixty-bell carillon that fills the gardens with music each day.
